Description
A once in a lifetime opportunity - this listing is for a potentially one-of-a-kind punch bowl used at the Washington Hilton during the 60’s and onward; a period that saw performances fromJimi Hendrix, Count Basie
and
The Doors
. Arguably of more significance is that this is the hotel in which
President Ronald Reagan
was shot in 1981 and was forced to skip out on the
White House Correspondents Association Dinner
, held annually in the International Ballroom. The hotel has also housed every living president during their transition period since it’s inception in 1965. Given it’s clear elegance, it’s most likely from the aforementioned ballroom of the hotel. This bowl has potentially been witness to the many historical moments taken place within those walls.
It’s age and use is evident in the many surface scratches and discoloration on the interior. Note how the bowl has a darker patina on the inside from years of serving hotel guests ranging from your average businessman apart of the rat race to those of extreme nobility. The handle with the marking on the underside has a dent, occurring at an unknown moment over the last 55+ years. It has been polished for photos but could receive a proper cleaning if preferred.
